In IAM, the set of entities that can prove identity includes employees, contractors, customers, vendors, devices, service accounts, machine accounts, and batch accounts. This grouping is captured by the concept of Identity Types. It helps tailor authentication and authorization policies for different kinds of entities—for example, humans might use MFA and role-based access, while devices and service accounts rely on machine credentials or certificates. Federated Access describes cross-domain trust and authentication between organizations, not the basic categorization of who or what is being identified. Access Administrator is a role, and Information Sharing relates to exchanging data, not identifying forms. Identity Types is the best fit.
